Insanity One might call it a sickness of the mind. Perhaps it is merely a chemical imbalance of some sort as most scientists and doctors prefer to refer to it.  In the case of this young man, it may very well be that, a chemical imbalance.  But did he begin as a young man?  Actually, no. Dilandau Albatou began his life as a girl. On that fateful day at the tender age of twelve summers, Serena Schezar was ripped from the arms of her loving mother and brother and taken into custody of the Zaibach Empire. Held captive for how much time?  She lost track through it all. But now, oh now, she is a he and he has no recollection of these events... Or does he?  This begins the story of Tenkuu no Escaflowne, or The Vision of Escaflowne if you prefer, but it is by no means the end.  The story of a girl, Kanzaki Hitomi, and her trip to a fabled world called Gaia. The powers of the Lost City of Atlantis. Her adventures there.  The meeting with our hero, Van Fanel and their budding love throughout the chronical.  The sides of Hitomi's heart are torn between Van and Allen Schezar.  Allen bears a striking resemblance to Amano, Hitomi's high school crush on Earth.  The confusion and transference of her love from Amano to Allen is understandable in her addled state. Wouldn't you if you were taken from the world you knew and tossed into something far greater than you will ever be?  Van has a brother, Folken Fanel, who should have, by rights, been the King of Fanelia, but he failed in the dragon hunt to become King. Why, you ask, child?  Perhaps it is too terrible for your ears, but perhaps you must follow the story yourself to discover the reason.  Folken was recruited by the Zaibach empire shortly after his failure and subsequent disappearance. And enter our anti-hero, Dilandau.  That begins the story of Tenkuu no Escaflowne. Enjoy, my child, there is no story like it on Earth . . .
